Medical Marijuana was approved in Louisiana in 2015 by Act 261. Act 261 approved a list of debilitating conditions eligible for treatment using medical marijuana. In 2018, Acts 708 and 496 expanded the list of qualifying conditions.
In August of 2020, HB 819 allows for ANY physician licensed in Louisiana to recommend medical marijuana to a patient for ANY medical condition deemed to be debilitating to the patient.
On January 1, 2022, HB 391 allowed for the dispensing of traditional, smokeable raw flower at medical marijuana pharmacies in Louisiana.
